Football in Ethiopia went under the control of the Ethiopian Football League (EFF) when that association was established in 1943. The EFF subsidiary to FIFA in 1953 and to the Confederation of African Football in 1957. 1938/39 and 1939/40 seasons in the regions of Eritrea, Harar, Amhara, Shoa and Oromia – Sidamo as a feature of the Italian occupation.The originally perceived form of the Ethiopian Chief Association was challenged in 1944 when five groups addressing the
different networks of Addis Ababa sought a title won by the English Military Mission-BMME. The Ethiopian Cup was added the next year and has been challenged routinely since (but for certain holes, prominently during the 1960s).
