Prigozhin’s tragic last hours
The recent African Ministers Conference held in Addis Ababa centered around collaborative solutions to tackle climate change and curb plastic pollution. As Africa experiences swift industrialization, there’s a concern about rising carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, as highlighted by Dawdy Sumba, the World Wildlife Fund’s regional director for Eastern and Southern Africa.
Sumba underlined that the continent is already grappling with the consequences of climate change and expressed optimism that Africa is actively identifying its role in addressing this issue. While acknowledging Africa’s responsibility in pollution reduction, the main focus remains on adaptation despite the ongoing impact of the problem. Striking a balance between these aspects is crucial, as reported by SABC.
Barbara Cressy, the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment from South Africa, shared her insights during the conference. The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) emphasized the necessity for an international adaptation goal, the establishment of a loss and damage fund, and the implementation of a mitigation program to enhance resilience against the effects of climate change.
