Abebe Gelau's reaction to Prime Minister Abi Ahmed's debate in Parliament. The Sudan office supports the activities of the United Arab Emirates to intervene in disputes over Sudan's border with Ethiopia and over the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERB), data from Sudan reported Tuesday.
Efforts to control al-Fashqa farmland along the strip have intensified recently while negotiations on GERB activities, which will affect downstream water volumes in Sudan and Egypt, stalled.
Sudan's interim office sponsored the emirate's proposal after it was studied at the service level, said information minister Hamza Balul.
Sudan has recently proposed a four-pronged intervention at the dam, including the African Union, European Union, United States and United Nations. The idea is supported by Egypt, another party to the pending talks, but not by Ethiopia, which says it supports a continued agreement led by the African Union.
