Covid-19 is the disease caused by the innovative coronavirus, which originated in the Wuhan of China. In February, the World Health Organization (WHO) appointed the novel Coronavirus "Covid-19". "CO" means "crown", "VI" for "virus" and "D" for "disease", while "19" was for the year, since the outbreak was first identified on December 31st.
According to WHO, "there are different procedures and purposes, to name viruses and diseases.
"The viruses are called depending on their genetic structure to facilitate the development of diagnostic tests, vaccines and medicines".
The viruses are appointed by the International Committee on Taxonomy of the Virus (ICT).
This particular virus was called "severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2" or SARS-COV-2.
