The trends of the Ethiopian film industry seem far removed from the country's way of life and cultural standards.
This does not reflect the true picture of people's lives. The use of screen statements by characters, emphasis on discourse, style of dress and emphasis on music are separated from local characteristics or cultural standards. As Desalen Hailu, vice president of the Ethiopian Film Association, points out, most of the country's films in local culture are not enough to explain that they are made by producers operating mostly in the capital.
The second edition of the Nile Color International Film Festival (CON IFF) opens on Monday, 24 Creators.
