The leader of an armed group that the Government of Ethiopia designates a terrorist organization said that his group has hit a military alliance with the Tigray forces now by pressing towards the capital.
The development of Wednesday came as the conflict that exploded in the Tigray Differential region last year in other parts of the second most populated country in Africa.
There were no immediate comments of General Tsadkan Gebreensae with Tigray forces, nor since the spokeswoman of the Abiy office.
The wave leader spoke a day after the prime minister asked all Ethiopians capable of joining the military and stopping Tigray's forces.
"Now is the right time for all capable Ethiopians who are old enough to join the defense forces, special forces and militias, and show their patriotism," said Abiy's office in a statement.
The spokesman for the Forces of Tigray, Getachew, Reda, has said to the AP who are struggling to ensure his long-standing region, but if the Abiy government is tied, "that's the icing on the cake."
With access to parts of Ethiopia increasingly restricted and journalists often harassed, it is difficult to say how citizens will respond to the prime minister's call, or if they will join the fight against him.
