While most social orders recognize polyginia, most people do not rehearse it. Regularly less than 10 percent (and about 25 to 35 percent) of men in polygos societies have more than one spouse; These husbands are often more experienced, rich and high status men (Altman and Gina 1996). Normal plural marriage includes about three spouses. The men of Negev Bedouin in Israel, for example, regularly have two spouses, despite the fact that it is satisfactory to have up to four (Grover 2008). As urbanization increases in these societies, polygamy will probably decrease due to the most notable admission to broad communications, innovation and training (Altman and Gina 1996).

 

 

 

In Canada, most are considered by the majority socially unsatisfactory and is illegal. The demonstration of entering the marriage while still married to another person is referred to as polygamy and is rejected by section 290 of the Canada Criminal Code (Minister of Justice 2014).
