In the implementation of the study modules, teachers work on teams that guide students and facilitate their learning. Teachers teams designed and implementing the study modules, and are also responsible for organizing evaluation practices as part of the implementation of the study module. The evaluation is embedded in the learning activities and the role of students in that is central. The evaluation is considered an essential part of the learning process, which consists of a continuous interaction and feedback. In addition, students are encouraged to create evidence of their competition development in multiple ways. The self-assessment and the evaluation of the pairs are commonly used during the process, and when evaluating the final learning results of the study modules.
The quality of learning is built by relying on the idea of constructive alignment (Biggs 2011), which emphasizes the alignment between the specific competences and the educational environment with pedagogical practices. Digitization is a basic requirement in the modern professional world, and that is why it is also part of the Hamk strategy as well. Digital competences are developed at all levels of organization and digital tools are widely used in learning processes, for example, on work projects and study module. Students produce multimedia digital outputs such as common project plans, presentations, interactive photos, videos and infographics as evidence of their competences. For learning and collaboration between peers, use equipment tools, for example, Microsoft teams to alleviate shared materials and meeting notes, Skype for online and whatsapp meetings to have a conversation to solve the Daily problems related to the project of the study module. Students have the possibility to choose from a variety of digital tools, and teachers can agree with their students who use certain purposes. For some of them, they receive support from the HAMK IT organization, but others are learned with the orientation of teachers. For teachers, this requires a continuous development of pedagogical practices and monitoring of new innovative applications. HAMK supports staff and the development of students by granting digital open badges (see E.G. Bauer, Siklander & Ruhalahti 2017), related to, for example, collaboration work, pedagogical competences and digital tools.
