This period takes its name from the city of Suma, which had been the capital of Ethiopia for a few centuries before the change to Christianity of King Azana (who administered from c. 320-360) and was filled as capital for a few centuries later. Although we can not exclude the likelihood that Christianity has been available in the nation before the transformation of this ruler, it just begins from this period that declarations of unmistnibly Christian convictions appear in the material record.
