Regarding the current state of affairs in Ethiopia, President of Sahle-Work Zewde, Dr. Bedilu Wakjira, Memeher Dereje Negash and artist Aster Bedane shared their thoughts and comments. It is worth reconsidering that the World Bank (WB) paid $34,000 to receive a carbon loan from the Humbo Community-Based Forest Management Project, which marked the most important episode of carbon swaps in Ethiopia.
In general, REDD+ is one of the few methods recognized by the United Nations for mitigating the impacts of environmental change by providing monetary incentives to governments to protect their forests instead of destroying them.
In contrast to various methods, the main attraction of REDD+ is that dead-end forests have many financial and natural benefits in addition to carbon stocks. Forests are home to many species of animals and plants, while trees play a large role in the water cycle and can be collected in dead forests for useful items.
The first REDD+ payment was approved for Brazil in February 2019 of $96.5 million to reduce deforestation in the air by 2014 and 2015 and therefore not to contribute to anthropogenic environmental change.
